Fighting for South Carolina Seniors
- Under André Bauer's leadership, the South Carolina Office on Aging has increased
vital services to the state's senior population.
- André proposed and helped pass the state's first Geriatric Physicians Act,
a program which will attract more geriatric physicians to South Carolina, improving
care for seniors in our state.
- Under André's leadership, the Office on Aging has become a one-stop shop for
all seniors who have needed help cutting through federal and state governmental
"red tape."
- Using no tax dollars, Bauer developed a highly successful public awareness program
to help seniors through the confusion surrounding the Medicare Part D Prescription
benefit plan. His office has helped thousands of our elderly citizens find the right
prescription drug plans.
- Protecting Seniors from scams and fraud through the innovative program Senior Shield.
The mission of Senior Shield is to act as a safeguard for senior citizens by creating
a system where ethical business practices are clearly defined, identified, and supported.
Senior Shield intends to stop senior fraud by educating the public about scams and
identifying its ethical players and encouraging seniors to do business with them.
This program is an innovative concept that emphasizes a free market approach by
encouraging seniors to do business with businesses that agree to treat them ethically,
and can prove they have insurance, post bonds, and have no outstanding consumer
or regulatory complaints.
