Standing Up For His Belief In God

André's Position

I believe that every South Carolinian has the right to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles and choose among dozens and dozens of license plates the one particular tag that reflects something they want to share with the rest of the world about their personality and beliefs. For those who say proclaiming “I believe” violates the constitution by giving preference to Christianity, I think the lawsuit and ruling clearly discriminates against persons of faith.

Enough is enough. We must stand up for our beliefs.

I am proud and unrelenting in my support of the Legislature’s unanimous enactment of this plate. Why? Because the “I believe” plate expresses core values that are meaningful to our society, that promote love, joy and comfort in our spiritual lives, and that are accommodating to every citizen’s right of free exercise of any and all religions.

I believe that every citizen has the constitutional protections of free speech and expression.

  • For those of you in support if the I Believe license plate this quote from Joshua 1:9 should come to mind: "Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."

The next I Believe Rally will be will be held March 17th, at Temple Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC.

Message to send your friends:

As you may know, I have been a strong advocate for the "I Believe" license plates in South Carolina. The matter is currently in the court system, and it could be some time before we actually see these license plates on South Carolina highways. If you would agree that all South Carolina citizens should have the choice to display a license plate on their vehicle that reflects their religious beliefs at their own cost, so long as they meet the minimal requirements set forth by the DMV, then I urge you to join me by signing this online petition. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/ibelievetagsc?e
