This past Saturday, I launced a new statewide campaign to persuade 775,000 South Carolina seniors to fight cardio-vascular disease by eating wiser and exercising more.
Dr. Oscar Lovelace demonstrated how people can vastly improve their risk for heart disease by making better choices in what they eat and how often they exercise. Thank you, Dr. Lovelace.
Chef Brian Dukes demonstrated that a healthy diet can also be a tasty one by cooking up some delicious scallops.
Also, many thanks to Russ Bell, Morgan Mundrell of the National Lt. Governors Association, and Beth Steffens of the YMCA for exercise tips.
In the next few weeks, we will be kicking-off a statewide ‘Be Kind to Your Heart’ campaign. An initiative of the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association, and assists in helping our senior citizens better understand how they can be kind to their hearts by making better choices in what they eat and how often they exercise.
The first mall walk is scheduled for April 24th - 9:30 AM - at Haywood Mall in Greenville. After the walk, there will be a free health screening, refreshments, and senior discount shopping.
I hope everyone in the Greenville area can make it out!
-Andre
